When G1 acquired the Perth Playhouse, one of the biggest investments was to become the very first independant IMAX in the nation.  They required a logo redesign and new website to reflect this.  It was a strict requirement to follow IMAX’s brand guidelines as their brand is part of the venue name.

The Perth Playhouse had a very loyal following and we had to be very sensitive as to not completely remove that association and love for the venue.  Following the branding guidelines, and keeping a hint of the old logo in there too, I fused the old with the new.

The old website had a very dominant burgundy colour scheme which I completely eradicated and adopted a colour scheme in keeping with IMAX brand guidelines.  To mirror the epic larger than life cinema experience that was now being introduced in the venue, I introduced much larger imagery across the site by displaying large slider advertising areas as well as a much more visual, colour-coded film search, which categorises and filters films by type, date, genre and rating – and a quicker way to view trailer and/or book tickets, whereas the old site took many more clicks to get to the booking stage, making it much easier for users and conversions increased.
